Home-Start North Dorset (HSND) is appealing for Friends For Families to come on board a fund-raising initiative to prepare and fund new and on-going volunteer parents. HSND volunteers provide periodic in-home assistance to local families with young children struggling to cope and where domestic circumstances are often complicated by mental health, abuse issues or rural isolation. The Friends network of sympathetic supporters will each commit to raising £120 (£10 per month) by the end of March 2020, while having a bit of fun at the same time. The HSND website’s ‘Friends’ page provides a list of fund-raising ideas and activities including book clubs; bingo, bridge, or chess matches; poker nights; home salons (spa/beauty/hair/nails); tarot reading and psychic salons; home cinema evenings; car boot sales; local bake sales, wine tastings etc. Friends can donate directly to a dedicated Virgin MoneyGiving site on the HSND website and review progress towards the target of £5,000.
Leaflet As families turn to Home-Start in ever increasing numbers we see first-hand the pressures on family life. Poverty, income inequality, stress arising from the work-life balance, isolation, loneliness and mental and physical illness.
Being a parent, wherever you live or whatever the situation, is not easy. Many parents feel exhausted and overwhelmed by the stresses of family life with under 5’s. It is even more difficult if family or friends are unable to offer you support and a breathing space when you most need them. Some parents lose confidence in their ability to cope and most can remember days when they would have liked someone to turn to. Home-start’s vision is a society in which every parent has the support they need to give their children the best possible start in life. With your help this can become a reality in North Dorset.
Become a friend of Home-Start North Dorset by donating an annual subscription from as little as £10 per year and in return you will have the knowledge that you are helping to secure a better start in life for North Dorset’s vulnerable children.
By supporting Home-Start you are helping struggling parents give their children a better start in life.
Family life can be hard and challenging for many parents. Loneliness, relationship breakdown, bereavement, physical and mental illness or even multiple births can have a profound effect on families.
With your help, Home-Start North Dorset can be there to help parents cope, to help them towards independence and a better future.

For use of their facilities to train our home-visiting volunteers.
Thank you all!
