Thank you very much to Morrisons in Blandford for your cheque for £3600.

All net proceeds generated from the charge on Morrison’s single-use carrier bags are used to support good causes and Home-Start North Dorset, via The Morrisons Foundation, have been given a grant to fund the new ‘Early Support Scheme’. This ‘Early Support Scheme’ will offer immediate short term support for up to 6 weeks with one of our experienced home visitors. This is offered to help families facing a short term crisis or unexpected event, such as move to area, relationship breakdown, death or sudden illness, accident or short notice of appointments that a family may have a difficulty in accessing.  We can visit up to twice per week providing practical help and emotional support to help a family cope with an unexpected event.  We could also provide this Early Support if there is expected to be a wait for our long term support.

Early Support Volunteer sponsored by the Blackmore Vale Lions

We would like to thank the Blackmore Vale Lions Club for their generous donation of £1200 to fund our first ‘Early Support’ volunteer. This new support scheme offers an immediate response to families to give emergency help.

40% of our families struggle with mental health issues and domestic abuse also being a high factor for referral. Other families struggle with disabilities, other health conditions and difficulties arising from low income.

Co-Op Community Fund

We are delighted that we have been chosen to be part of the local

Co-op Community Fund.

Co-op members can select us to receive 1% of what they spend on items in store.

This funding can make a huge difference to us.

If you are a Co-Op member please select Home-Start North Dorset as your chosen charity to enable us to receive funding!

Thank you.

8th Preparation Course Complete!

May we present our graduates from our

8th Preparation Course.

Well done ladies!

We now have a further 13 home-visiting volunteers who will soon be matched with struggling families in North Dorset.

We celebrated their achievement with a ‘Bring and Share’ lunch attended by a number of current home-visiting volunteers and Trustees.

We hope they enjoy their volunteering and feel ready to make a difference!

All our volunteers give their valuable time for free each week however the cost to fund a volunteer is £1200 per year.  Please contact the office on 01258 473038 if you would like to sponsor one of our lovely ladies as they embark on their new venture!

Thank you to all at Yewstock School

A massive THANK YOU to all at Yewstock School for donating these wonderful presents.  They will go a long way to ease the added pressure that our families face at Christmas time, not to mention the smiles on the children’s faces.
