Today our Scheme Organiser Jamie Keast collected sackfuls of Christmas gifts which have been kindly donated by the children of Yewstock School in Sturminster Newton. These gifts will go to families in the local area to make the festive period a little more festive.
Thank you to all those that donated.
Co-op members raised an incredible £3822.02 from their Milborne Port and Sherborne Food shops.
Thank you so much for your support.
Thanks to all those who helped on the day and everyone who baked cakes in advance.
A delightfully varied programme of music and words was enjoyed by all who attended the concert at the Tithe Barn, Hinton St Mary on Friday July 21st. The weather was not quite the ‘summer evening’ hoped for but the music, songs and poetry lifted the audience’s spirits bringing a different kind of sunshine.
The concert was in aid of Home-Start North Dorset and organised by Trustee Jenny Morisetti, who welcomed performers and guests thanking them for their support which enables the work of the charity to continue and flourish, providing friendship and support to families, across North Dorset, when facing difficult times.
Annemarie Lees opened the concert with three traditional west country songs and Jan Wyld continued the link including poems by Hardy in her readings, Linda Readman, accompanied by Wendy Partridge, included songs by Joan Baez, Judy Collins, Joni Mitchell and, appropriately, Gershwin’s Summertime.
Sian Williams on flute, accompanied by Wendy Partridge, played works by Granados, and Debussy. The evening ended with a set of short poems by Wendy Cope set to music by Wendy and sung by Annemarie Lees,
Pimms and canapés were much appreciated during the interval and the evening raised over £900 for Home-Start.
All net proceeds generated from the charge on Morrison’s single-use carrier bags are used to support good causes and Home-Start North Dorset, via The Morrisons Foundation, have been given a grant to fund the new ‘Early Support Scheme’. This ‘Early Support Scheme’ will offer immediate short term support for up to 6 weeks with one of our experienced home visitors. This is offered to help families facing a short term crisis or unexpected event, such as move to area, relationship breakdown, death or sudden illness, accident or short notice of appointments that a family may have a difficulty in accessing. We can visit up to twice per week providing practical help and emotional support to help a family cope with an unexpected event. We could also provide this Early Support if there is expected to be a wait for our long term support.
Thanks again to the people of Project Linus for sending us another lovely bundle of quilts to keep our families feeling loved and cosy!
